Dr. Thomas E. Remmler - Owner

Where does one begin in describing Dr. Remmler?  His vision, energy, gumption and dedication to animals began as a child, but came to fruition when he established Oak Creek Small Animal Clinic in 1985.  After studying Chemical Engineering at Arizona State University, he quickly realized that he wanted to attend Washington State University, where he received in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1980.

Dr. Remmler was, at the time, encumbered by the typically large student debt and the beginnings of a new family. Thus the first OCSAC opened in a garage which he remodeled by himself.  Having only one employee, he often acted as his own kennel person, receptionist and technician.  During the first four years of practice, he worked without taking any days off, seeing patients during the day and taking emergency calls at night.  His practice became so successful that he outgrew the small facility and purchased the current building, which he completely remodeled himself in order to save money.

Quickly his reputation grew for not only his compassionate caring and treatment of animals, but also for his expertise in diagnostics, surgical procedures and solving the “tough” cases.  Today the practice flourishes under his leadership, with an excellent staff that he chooses carefully for their talents.

His outlets and hobbies include flying his planes, running, hiking, mountain biking, woodworking and spending time with his family and animals.  He holds a private and commercial pilot’s license, instrument rating for flying and acts as an instructor for those learning to fly in gliders.  As if he didn’t have enough to do, he owns a business that provides “pawsitioners” for other veterinarians to use in their practice during surgical and radiological procedures.

Lastly, his family is the most important thing in his life and he and his wife Shari are expecting their first grandchild in March, 2010.  His excitement shows no boundaries and he has already built the baby’s crib.

Dr. Jeannine Kinney - Owner

Dr. Kinney grew up in Phoenix, where at the age of four informed her mother, after visiting her own doctor, that she would be the first doctor for animals.  It was all success from that point forward.  She attended The University of Arizona, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree and then traveled to Washington where she graduated from Washington State University.  There she was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and stayed on to do an Internship in Anesthesiology.

How lucky for us that she decided to come to Sedona and work her magic with animals. She has been at OCSAC for ten years and is now part owner of the practice.  Dr. Kinney has a deep rooted love for animals and nature and an aptitude for science.  She stays on the cutting edge of Veterinary Science as a member of the Arizona Academy for Veterinary Practice and by attending conferences, workshops, and reading professional journals.  She takes great pleasure in helping owners find cures for their pet’s health issues and in enhancing comfort and quality of life……. Puppy kisses aren’t bad either!!

Active in the community, Dr. Kinney is a supporter and Board of Trustee Member for the Humane Society of Sedona.  Her hobbies include swimming, yoga, softball, cooking and doing anything outdoors with her husband and dogs.  Additionally, Dr. Kinney was recently voted Kudos Best Veterinarian in Sedona.  Her warmth and reassuring attitude are her trademarks!

Dr. Kristina Ingram - Associate

Dr. Kristina Ingram’s love of  Veterinary Medicine began as a small child, as both of her parents are practicing Veterinarians in the Phoenix area.  She spent much of her childhood in her father’s clinic, and at the Phoenix Zoo where here mother was veterinarian for the last 20 years.  She attended Northern Arizona University prior to Vet School at Colorado State University, where she was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Ingram has received additional training and specializes in Acupuncture for animals, as well as treating our more exotic patients, such as birds, reptiles and other small animals.

She grew up in Phoenix and loves to hike, backpack, camp, mountain bike, snowboard and garden (she grows awesome tasting veggies!)  Her favorite part of the job is the challenge of figuring out a difficult case and networking nation-wide with specialists to problem solve, and best serve her patients.  Our favorite part of her work is the loving and caring attitude she demonstrates towards animals and clients alike!  She absolutely loves the human-animal bond!

Philosophically, Dr. Ingram is a proponent of preventative medicine and using multi-modal approaches to help her patients.  Watching her perform acupuncture and seeing the comfort it brings to her patients is amazing.  She also has experience performing chemotherapy, dentistry and surgery and loves all aspects of her work.
