Our Services

Routine Vaccinations and Wellness exams

Not every pet has the same exposure risks to infectious disease.  Some pets rarely make it outside the house while others share the home with multiple pets.  Vaccination programs should be tailored to match  individual exposure risk.  Regardless of these risks, every pet should be given an annual physical exam to  detect potential problems as early as possible.

Laboratory Services

In addition to our diagnostic laboratory located in Phoenix, we offer in-house pre-surgical screening, heartworm testing, Elisa serology for feline leukemia, fecal analysis, fungal culture and routine cytology.  Our outside laboratory  work is taken to Phoenix by courier and turnaround time is generally less than 24 hours.

Radiology

X-rays are a quick and reliable method of seeing two-dimensionally inside the body to visualize fractures, joint disease, detect swallowed objects, heart and lung disease and diagnose tumors.  Virtually all of our x-rays are performed in house with little need for referral.

Ultrasonography

High-frequency sound waves are transmitted through tissue and their echoes are detected.  From the sound echoes, computerized images are rendered on a viewer.  Ultrasound is of particular value in imaging soft tissues which are not as easily discerned on x-rays.  Diagnostic ultrasound is painless to the patient and safe for the operator.

Surgery

Our Clinic provides surgery ranging from routine sterilization (spays and neuters)  to more complex procedures such as orthopedic surgery, exploratory surgery and tumor resections.  We monitor all our surgical patients with pulse oximetry, respiration and heart rate monitors  All anesthetized patients are warmed with circulating water blankets.  One of  our clinicians, Dr. Jeannine Kinney, received post-graduate training in anesthesiology

Dentistry

Dental disease in pets is often one of the most overlooked, yet potentially harmful problems in veterinary medicine - also one of the most preventable.  It is estimated that more than 85 percent of the dogs and cats in the United states have some degree of dental disease.  Veterinary Dentistry has evolved into a separate practice specialty over the past fifteen years.  Now there are two practices in the Greater Phoenix area that specialize in veterinary dentistry.  Our clinic has a special area devoted to veterinary dentistry.  We perform routine prophylactic  (preventative)  cleaning which includes ultrasonic scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatment.  We also have a dental x-ray machine and processor just for dental x-rays.

After-Hours On-Call Service

Oak Creek Small Animal Clinic is not a 24-hour clinic but one of our veterinarians is almost always equipped with a pager during off-hours and our clinic is serviced by an answering service when we are closed.  We reserve this service for life-threatening emergencies in which our clients feel their pet cannot wait for regular hours.  Our Saturday and Sunday hours minimize the need for costly out-of-hours services.  In the rare event where a client cannot reach us, they are referred to the Animal Emergency Clinic.  Their phone number is 1-800-548-7117.
